Layered Raspberry Banana Chia Smoothie

This raspberry banana chia smoothie is assembled in two distinct layers: a creamy banana base and a bright raspberry top. Greek yogurt gives both layers body, while chia seeds add texture. The separate blends make the finished jar look more interesting than a single-color smoothie without requiring complicated preparation.

For a visible division, make the bottom layer first and pour it into the serving jar before blending the raspberries. Use only as much milk as each layer needs to move smoothly through the blender, especially in the top layer, where the recipe provides a small range.

Ingredients

Bottom Layer

  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds

Top Layer

  • 1/2 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk

Toppings

  • Banana slices
  • Fresh raspberries
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bottom layer by blending the banana, Greek yogurt, milk, and chia seeds until smooth.
  2. Pour the banana mixture into a jar, smoothing the top so the next layer has an even base.
  3. Rinse the blender if you want the raspberry color to remain especially clear.
  4. For the top layer, blend the frozen raspberries, half banana, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, and 1–2 tablespoons milk.
  5. Spoon or slowly pour the raspberry mixture over the bottom layer.
  6. Finish with banana slices, fresh raspberries, and 1 teaspoon chia seeds.

Layering Tips

A thick top mixture is easier to layer, so begin with the smaller amount of milk and add more only if the blender needs it. Pouring over the back of a spoon can soften the impact on the bottom layer. Serve soon after assembling for the clearest color contrast and freshest toppings. Use a clear jar or glass if you want both layers to remain visible at the table.
