Glazed Chocolate Donuts

These six baked chocolate donuts cool briefly before both sides are dipped in a simple vanilla glaze.

Ingredients

Donuts

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Glaze

  • 1/3 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons warm water

Bake and glaze

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and spray a six-hole donut pan.
  2. Whisk the egg with sugar, then stir in milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
  3. Mix in flour, cocoa, and baking powder. Divide among the six cavities.
  4. Bake for 16 minutes, until the centers reach 160°F (71°C). Cool for 5 minutes.
  5. Stir the confectioners’ sugar, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla, and warm water until dissolved.
  6. Dip both sides of each donut in glaze. Set on a rack with a tray underneath and let dry.

Store in a sealed container, preferably refrigerated. The source also notes that the donuts freeze well.
